TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. BOOKINGS AND PAYMENT

1.1. Bookings are not confirmed until a 50% deposit of the event cost and booking form details have been received for your chosen course, guided walk or rock climbing session. We will send you an email confirming your booking upon receipt of the deposit and return of the booking form. Full payment is required 28 days prior to the event start date.

1.2 If a booking is made within 28 days of the event start date, payment will be required in full to confirm the booking.

1.3 Payment can be made by bank transfer. Details are provided on our booking form.

1.4 If, after booking onto an event and making full payment, you would like to make a change to an alternative date, an additional fee of £20 may be charged for a 1 day event, or £50 for a multi-day event. Any changes are subject to availability.

2. CANCELLATION OF BOOKING

2.1 Any cancellation must be notified in writing by the person who made the booking.

2.2 If you cancel your booking more than 28 days before the start date of the event, we will refund any payment made minus the value of your deposit.

2.3 If you cancel your booking less than 28 days before the start date of the event, no refund will be payable.

2.4 If you have paid a deposit, this will non-refundable at any stage.

2.5 We will endeavor to provide your course regardless of the weather. However, we reserve the right to make amendments to the planned itinerary if weather or other circumstances dictate that it is not safe to proceed as originally planned. In the unlikely event that we should have to cancel your course we will refund you 100% of your money paid. We will not be in a position to refund any personal expenses you may have incurred as a result of your booking, such as flight payments, travel insurance, equipment purchases, etc.

2.6 We recommend that you take out personal insurance to cover any unforeseen travel, health or other events that may affect you attending your booked event.

2.7 Unless otherwise stated, costs are for guiding and/or instruction only.

3. PARTICIPATION

3.1 King Mountaineering will provide a suitably qualified and insured guide to undertake your booked adventure and we hope you have a great time while your are out on our events. However, please be aware that walking and climbing are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.

3.2 Participants have the right to veto on any event if they don’t feel comfortable with the level of risk. However, we would always insist that you follow all safety instruction given by your guide, instructor or leader. Any clients that act against the advice of the guide, instructor or leader will absolve themselves of any duty of care or professional indemnity from the guide, instructor or leader running the course. We would encourage participants to discuss any anxieties they may have about their course with the guide.

4. FITNESS

4.1 It is your responsibility to ensure that you have an appropriate level of fitness and experience for the activity you are taking part in. This will vary depending on the type of event and will be posted on the event page. If this you arrive for an event and do not have the necessary fitness to undertake the event, your guide may ask you not to take any further part in the event for safety reasons. If this occurs, no refund will be given.

4.2 We ask you for a summary of relevant experience on our booking form – this is used to help us plan the event that you are booking onto and to try and ensure all participants are of a similar level.

4.3 You must also let us know if you have any injuries, medical conditions or are taking any medication that will impact on your ability to undertake the planned trip.

4.4 Anyone believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, acting in an abusive manner or ignoring the advice of their guide will be required to leave the event. If this occurs, no refund will be given.

5. EQUIPMENT

5.1 A full kit list relevant to your activity will be provided for your booked event. This will be available via the event page on this website and will be sent for your reference along with our booking form.

5.2 It is your responsibility to arrive at an event with all of the required equipment as specified on the supplied kit list. Note that some items included on the kit list are not essential and these items will be marked accordingly on our kit lists. While it is best practice to carry these items, it is not expected that you will have all of these items at the beginning of the event.

5.3 If you have any questions regarding any of the equipment necessary for our events then please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Contact details can be found below. Please note that if you arrive for an event without the appropriate equipment and have not arranged for hire, it may be necessary to refuse to let you join the trip. Equipment is a really important part of being safe and comfortable on the hills. If this occurs, no refund will be given.

5.4 All personal equipment is used at your own risk. We will not be responsible for any loss or damage to your personal equipment while participating in one of our events.
